Knit Therapy at North Bay Fiber

Knit Therapy at North Bay Fiber

Introducing Knit Therapy at North Bay Fiber

Expert help. No pressure. And a warm place to land.

We’ve all been there. You’re knitting along on your project, feeling great, and then… something doesn’t look right. A dropped stitch. A confusing pattern instruction. A weird edge that wasn’t supposed to happen. Or maybe you just haven’t picked up your needles in weeks and can’t remember where you left off.

Enter: Knit Therapy — a new weekly offering at North Bay Fiber designed to be a soft place to land when you need a little guidance, encouragement, or accountability with your knitting.

🧵 What is Knit Therapy?

Knit Therapy is a casual, drop-in support session where you can sit with one of our expert team members and get the one-on-one help you need to move forward with your project.

It’s not a full class or a private lesson — think of it more like a knitting support group, with expert guidance and friendly faces.

Whether you're:

  • Starting a brand new pattern and need help with cast-on confidence

  • Feeling lost in a pattern and unsure where to go next

  • Trying to fix a mistake but don’t want to make it worse

  • Returning to a long-lost WIP and don’t know where to pick back up

  • Or just want some thoughtful guidance as you build your skills…

We’ve got you.

📍 When & Where

Every Thursday
10:00 AM – 12:00 NOON
At the North Bay Fiber shop — 3737 N Huron Road, Pinconning, MI

💸 How Much?

  • Drop-in session: $20

  • Punch card: $100 for 6 sessions (Buy 5, get 1 FREE!)

We limit each session to 6 knitters so everyone gets the time and attention they need. Pre-registration is encouraged!
Just call us at 989‑200‑2016 and we’ll add your name to the list.

✨ Why We Call It Knit Therapy

Because it really is.

There’s something about knitting that soothes the mind, settles the nerves, and brings people together. And sometimes, just having a calm, supportive space (with someone nearby who knows how to fix that miscrossed cable) is all it takes to feel confident again.

So think of this as your weekly check-in — for your project and your peace of mind.

We hope you'll join us!

Thrumming Workshop

Discover the timeless art of thrumming—a knitting technique that incorporates soft, insulating roving into your project for unmatched warmth and fluffiness. Thrum are short lengths of unspun roving (we’ll use pencil roving). They are worked into your knitting to create a cozy, cloud-like lining. Perfect for mittens, hats, slippers, and more, thrumming adds both style and functionality to your handmade items.

Julie will lead this workshop and guide you through the process of creating and working with thrums while casting on for the Thrumbelina Slipper pattern. You’ll make enough progress in class to confidently finish your project at your own pace.

NEW KIT: Autumn Snowfall by Jessica McDonald

Autumn Snowfall

Collaboration with Jessica McDonald

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Autumn Snowfall sweater kit, featuring a stunning new design by the talented Jessica McDonald. This collaboration between Jessica and North Bay Fiber brings together the beauty of a traditional motif with a fresh, modern twist.

The Autumn Snowfall sweater contains a striking snowflake pattern placed in an unexpected location, adding a touch of elegance and whimsy to this timeless piece, that will be a standout addition to any hand-knit wardrobe.

Knit with our light and lofty Heritage Sport, Autumn Snowfall perfectly balances warmth and softness. The yarn’s airy texture beautifully complements the two-color design, making the snowflake motif truly stand out. It’s a flattering silhouette offering the comfort and coziness that only 100% wool yarn can deliver. Autumn Snowfall will be a joy to knit and a treasured piece in your collection.

NOTES FROM THE DESIGNER:

Autumn Snowfall is knit seamlessly from the top down. You cast on for the back neck and then work increases to shape the shoulders. After completing the back yoke, stitches for the fronts are picked up from each of the shoulders. Simple shaping creates a crew neckline. After the front yoke is complete, the body of Autumn Snowfall is knit in the round. A bold section of snowflakes is worked at the bottom hem. Sleeves are picked up and knit from the top down in the round.

Anniversary Sale!

~ LIVE NOW ~

Our Anniversary SALE!

We are celebrating with a sale,

plus a free gift to you!

This week marks North Bay Fiber's 3rd anniversary! We are thrilled to celebrate it with you! It feels like just yesterday we embarked on this journey. We are incredibly grateful for the love and support we've received from each of you over the past years.

In these swift-moving years, North Bay Fiber has blossomed from a dream into a flourishing family business. What an incredible journey it has been! Over the past three years, we started with introducing our beloved Heritage yarn line, adored by knitters for its exceptional quality and distinctive colors. We have also expanded our offerings with two more adored yarn lines of custom-milled, breed-specific yarns that are 100% American sourced and milled: Hello, Elemental and Journey! This year, we achieved a significant milestone by purchasing and opening our first location, which expanded our dyeing operations (that means no more dyeing yarn in below-freezing temps, woohoo!) and offers a brick-and-mortar shop, bringing a dedicated yarn store to our community.

These are just a few highlights from these amazing years. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of our wonderful family, friends, and of course, YOU. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. To our loyal customers who have shared their beautiful projects and stories with us, to our dedicated team who works tirelessly behind the scenes, and to our family and friends who have supported us every step of the way – thank you. Your enthusiasm, passion for quality yarn, and your trust in our products drive us to continue innovating and working hard.
