Coffee Cozy Embellishment Class: Needle Felting Basics

Discover the art of needle felting in this fun, beginner-friendly workshop! In this three-hour class, you'll learn the fundamentals of needle felting while creating a one-of-a-kind embellishment for a wool coffee cozy.

Using North Bay Fiber wool, you'll explore different types of felting wool, learn how various felting needles are used, and practice the basic techniques needed to build texture, shape, and dimension. Michele will guide you step-by-step as you create your own unique design in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Whether you're brand new to fiber arts or simply looking to try something new, this class is the perfect introduction to needle felting.

Class Fee: $60

Students may either:

  • Bring their own completed felted coffee cozy (we provide the pattern) to embellish during class, or
  • Purchase one of our handmade felted coffee cozies:
    • Plain Felted Coffee Cozy – $15
    • Beaded Felted Coffee Cozy – $25

Coffee cozies are sold separately and are not included in the class fee.

Materials Included

Your class fee includes the following supplies needed for the needle felting portion of class:

  • Felting needles (3 different styles)
  • Felting pad (from Felted Sky Studios)
  • Finger guard
  • North Bay Fiber Pencil roving 
  • North Bay Fiber Carded wool (Targhee-Polypay)
  • Use of classroom tools
  • Coffee Cozy Felted Sleeve Pattern

You'll also take your felting needle, pad, and finger guards home so you can continue needle felting on your own.


Class Preparation

If you're bringing your own coffee cozy, it must be completed before class and made from 100% non-superwash wool using DK or worsted weight yarn. We recommend BayHouse DK. The pattern is included in this class.

Registered students receive 10% off North Bay Fiber yarn purchased to knit their cozy before class.

About the Instructor

Michele Goretcki is an artist, designer, and educator with a passion for helping others explore their creativity. She holds a Master's Degree in Education, a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, and a Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering.

A lifelong multimedia artist inspired by generations of makers in her family, Michele's creative journey has been shaped by both formal education and intensive study with renowned artists, including Robert Joyner, Official Kentucky Derby Artist. Her felted works, murals, and artwork have been exhibited at venues including The Dow, Moynihan Gallery, 89 Art Scene, and other regional venues.

We understand that life happens, and sometimes plans change! If you need to cancel your knitting class reservation, please let the shop know as soon as possible so we can offer your spot to someone else.

  • Cancellations 48+ hours in advance: You’ll receive a full refund or the option to reschedule within 30 days. 
  • Cancellations within 24-48 hours: A 50% refund or rescheduling (if space allows).
  • No-shows or cancellations within 24 hours: Unfortunately, we can’t offer a refund, as your reserved spot could have gone to another participant.

Since class sizes are limited, last-minute cancellations mean lost opportunities for others and impact the time and materials we've set aside. We appreciate your understanding and support in keeping things fair for everyone!

If we cancel due to weather or unforeseen circumstances you’ll have an option to receive a full refund or to reschedule within 30 days.
