Knitting Techniques: Increases & Short Rows

Ready to take your knitting skills a step further? This focused techniques class will help you confidently work shaping and short rows — two essential skills used in garments, shawls, and advanced projects.

A working knowledge of basic knitting is required. Students should already know how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off.

Led by our experienced instructor, Jane, this class is intentionally kept small to ensure personalized guidance, hands-on support, and a relaxed learning environment where every student receives individual attention.

 


In This Class You Will: 

• Read shaping instructions in a pattern or chart
• Work common increase methods
• Knit and understand short rows
• Learn when and why these techniques are used

Materials Needed

• Approximately 50g DK weight yarn (Heavy DK/Light Worsted) - We recommend BayHouse DK
• Knitting needles appropriate for DK weight yarn - We recommend a US 7, 16" circular needle.

 


Homework

Please bring a small knitted swatch to practice on at the start of class.

  • Less than 24 hours or no-shows: No refund 

Due to the small class size, last-minute cancellations impact both the instructors and other potential participants. We appreciate your understanding and support in helping us host meaningful and memorable experiences with our visiting teachers.

If we need to cancel the class due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, you’ll receive a full refund.
