About This Class
Ready to knit your first pair of socks? This class is designed to walk you through the process step-by-step so you can approach sock knitting with confidence.
You’ll learn:
• How to choose the right size based on your foot measurements
• Different methods for knitting small circumferences
• German Twisted Cast On
• How to count rows accurately
• Heel flap & gusset construction
• Kitchener stitch for finishing
By the end of class, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to continue knitting socks on your own.

• Leah’s Vanilla Sock Recipe
OR
• Knitterella's Summer Camp Socks
Materials Needed
• US Size 1 (2.5mm) needles for small circumference knitting
(DPNs, or magic loop with 32”+ cable)
• 1 skein fingering weight yarn with nylon
(You may bring your own yarn, or Bella Filato, Bella Sock, is available at the shop and works great for this class)
• Optional: Contrasting mini skein for heels and toes
• Basic notions (stitch markers, darning needle, scissors, etc.)
Prerequisites
Students should be comfortable with:
• Casting on
• Knit & purl stitches
• And come with a positive attitude
Additional Notes
• Materials are not included in class fee
• Students receive 10% off class supplies when purchased at North Bay Fiber

Class Cancellation & Refund Policy
We understand that plans can change, and we do our best to be fair while also honoring the time and commitment of our instructors.
Standard Classes (North Bay Fiber Instruction):
- 72+ hours in advance: Full refund
- 36–72 hours before class: 50% refund (issued as store credit)
- Less than 36 hours or no-shows: No refund
Special Guest Classes (Visiting Instructors):
Due to the limited nature of these events and the commitment involved in bringing in out-of-town instructors, a different policy applies:
- 72+ hours in advance: 30% of the class fee will be issued as store credit only
- Less than 72 hours before class or no-shows: No refunds or credits
Special guest classes are one-time events with limited seating, and cancellations directly impact both the instructor and other participants.
Additional Notes:
- Store credits are issued as North Bay Fiber e-gift cards and can be used in-store or online
- Registrations are non-transferable and cannot be moved to another class
- If North Bay Fiber needs to cancel a class due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, a full refund will be issued
