CLASS: Bigelow Beanie Workshop
We love the Bigelow Beanie so much we offering it as a special one-day Saturday workshop happening during our Holiday Open House!
Join us for a fun afternoon where you will cast on for the Bigelow Beanie! This quick and enjoyable project is perfect for beginners and seasoned knitters alike. The Bigelow Beanie is a bulky, stylish knitted hat designed to keep you (or your gift recipient) warm. Let’s knit together and make something special!
PATTERN DESCRIPTION
Simple texture equals big fun! Designed in Elemental Bulky, the Bigelow Beanie is a cozy hat featuring a moss stitch pattern that consists only of knits and purls. The resulting knit has a great all over texture with a clever 5-point crown decrease. Simple, fun, and FAST! With 3 sizes to choose from, the Bigelow Beanie is an easy and wearable unisex design. It’s a great hat for yourself and great for last minute knit-giving!
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
PREREQUISITES:
Although the pattern is easily memorized, there are some skills that will be needed to make this lovely beanie.
The skills needed are:
- Ability to cast on, knit, purl
- Ability to read your knitting as the pattern changes every other row
WORKSHOP TECHNIQUES:
During this workshop you will learn an intro to the following techniques:
- Intro to Alternate Cable Cast On (cast on used in pattern)
- Intro to knitting in the round
- Intro to decreases in the round
- Intro to small circumference knitting, using Double Pointed Needles (DPNs) or the Magic Loop Method
NEEDED PRIOR TO CLASS:
- Needles (see pattern details for needle sizes)
- Yarn (recommended 1 skein of Elemental Bulky)
- Pom Pom (optional)
- Pattern
- Notions -
- stitch markers, 5 total, unique one for beginning of round, 4 for crown decreases
- scissors
- tape measure
- tapestry needle
- stitch stoppers (optional)

- Saturday, November 30th, 11:30am - 2:30pm
- This one day class is in-person and happening at the shop:

CLASS SIZE: Class size is limited to 7 individuals
